The following will guide you through setting up the Nokia 9000 Communicator to connect to Localdial.Com for Internet and email access.

To complete this set-up you will need your username (login Name), your password and email address. These can be found within the back cover of your manual sent to you by Localdial.Com or given to you by your computer dealer. If you do not know where this is, please call our support number on 872872. Office hours only please.

Configuring the Nokia 9000 to access the Internet through Localdial.Com

  • Select the "INTERNET" button
  • Select "SETTINGS" and press Enter
  • Set "Modem Initialisation" to "Fixed 9600 BPS"
  • Highlight "INTERNET ACCESS" and select "CHANGE"
  • Select "NEW" and type in "Localdial.Com" as the name for the connection
  • Type in "01534 873873" for the "Phone Number"
  • "Username :" Type in your UserID (Login Name) (make sure you type this in lower case characters).
  • "Prompt for Password" - Set this to "N" (No) to save your password or set this to "Y" (Yes) if you want to be prompted for your password every time you connect.
  • "Password :" Type in your password (make sure you type this in lower case characters).
  • Select "ADVANCED SETTINGS" and press Enter.
  • MODEM INITIALISATION : Leave this blank.
  • Now type in the following :
    • IP Address : 0.0.0.0
    • Default Gateway : Leave this blank.
    • Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
    • Primary Nameserver : 195.226.128.2
    • Secondary Nameserver : 195.226.128.3
  • Now close all screens by selecting the "CLOSE" button. This will save the changes made.

The Nokia 9000 communicator should now be configured to access the Internet through Localdial.Com.

Note: The first time you try to connect, it may be necessary to select "Settings" and make sure that "Localdial.Com" is selected for Internet Access.

Configuring the Nokia 9000 to receive email through Localdial.Com

  • Highlight the "MAIL" icon on your Internet screen and select "SETTINGS".
  • "Username" - Type in your UserID (Login Name) (make sure you type this in lower case characters).
  • "Password" - Type in your password (make sure you type this in lower case characters).
  • "Email Address" - Type in your email address
  • "Receiving Mail Server" - "mail.localdial.com"
  • "Sending Mail Server" - "mail.localdial.com"
  • Click "Close" to all screens to save the changes.

You have now configured the Nokia 9000 to collect email from Localdial.Com.
