These
pages are designed to help you set-up RAS (Remote Access Service) to connect
you to Localdial.Com
using Windows NT Version 4.0.

To
create a RAS connection to Localdial.Com,
you will firstly need to open Dial Up Networking. Follow the screen shot
as shown here.

If
you have no current phonebook entries, you will be presented with the
dialogue box shown here. Simply click on OK to begin the connection wizard.

In
this first box, simply put in a name for your connection to Localdial.Com.
This text is only used as a label, so you can put pretty much anything
in here, but calling it Localdial.Com
makes sense. Click on next

This
screen is extremely simple to complete, but is VERY important.
Simply
make sure that ALL 3 boxes on this screen have ticks in them, and you
can't go far wrong.
Click
on next

This
screen is where you enter the phone number to dial into Localdial.Com.
If you are not using any kind of exchange to dial out, it is advisable
to remove the tick from use telephony dialling properties, as this can
cause problems.
Leave
the area code box blank, type the relevant telephone number into the telephone
number box and then click on next

All
you need to do for this screen is to click on next no matter what type
of connection you have.
If
you select SLIP as your connection protocol, your connection will not
work.

Basically,

you won't need to run a script. Simply click on next

You
do not need to enter a fixed IP address, simply click next.

This
screenshot requires an important piece of information.
If you
want to have a useable connection, make sure that your screen shows the
DNS server shown here (195.226.131.251). If you get this information wrong,
your machine will not be able to resolve hostnames (e.g. www.localdial.com)
to IP addresses (e.g. blah.blah.blah.blah)
The
entry for WINS server MUST be left empty, otherwise your connection will
not function correctly.
Click
on Next

Congratulations!
You are almost finished. There are one or two more things we need to check.
Unless
you want to change any of the previous settings (in which case you would
simply click Back) simply click on Finish.

Now
we need to change a setting or two in the connection properties.
Simply
click on more then Edit entry and modem properties

Once
you have this screen, click on the Server tab and click on the TCP/IP
Settings button as shown here.

All
you need to do in this section is to enter the address for the secondary
DNS server. Simply put in 195.226.182.3 as the address, click OK and everything
should work without any major problems.
Well,
that was simple wasn't it? Now all you need to do, is click Dial and you'll
be presented with the following screen....

Just
enter your username and password into the relevant boxes.
Leave
the Domain box empty. If there is ANYTHING in the domain box, your login
will fail, and you will not be able to connect successfully to Localdial.Com.
If there is anything in this box, simply highlight and delete it.
You
should ideally leave the Save Password box unchecked. If your password
is incorrect and you have left this box checked, you will need to reset
your password. Now just click OK and leave your machine to connect.....
