This compilation is taken from the releases of Frank Bendinelli and Leroy Lovett's group of labels.   Although not a great lover of 'Philly' Soul, this is unquestionably one of the best I've heard.    Having said that, it isn't typical.  It does not focus on slow ballads or the smooth harmonics of groups like the Delphonics and has a much more 'generic' flavour.  Most of the tracks are mid to uptempo and many have a 'Northern' appeal.  'I'm Gonna Love You A Long Time' by Patti and the Emblems is already regarded as a classic but just about all her tracks on this compilation are fabulous.  It is worth noting that Frank Bendinelli was white whilst Leroy Lovett was black.  Nothing remarkable about that today, but in the context of the sixties the two races mixed much less and the musical output from their stable is testimony to what racial harmony can achieve.  Maybe the fact they had Leon Huff as a session musician might have had something to do with it.

A very good Philly album which I enjoyed immensely.  Besides Patty and the Emblems some of the other noteworthy offerings from this compilation are "It happens every day" by the Persianettes, 'Treat Myself To A New Love' by the Inspirations and another Northern Classic, 'Be Yourself' by The Companions.
