This is a collection of EMI Soul Records which became popular on the Northern Circuit during the 70's. The tracks were selected and the sleeve notes written by Richard Searling and as a consequence every track is a genuine Soul anthem, providing of course that you're prepared to forgive Dean Parrish and Bobby Paris for being white. It's also a mid price offering and represents excellent value for money. Its main weakness is that it falls into the same trap as many other 1998/99 offerings in that most of the tracks have already been released on other compilations. The only tracks which I did not already possess were Teddy Randazzo's "You Don't Need a Heart", Gene McDaniels "Walk with a Winner" and the track from which the title is taken "It'll Never Be Over For Me" by Timi Yuro. I'd never heard this last song before but having done so I now confess to being hooked. Moody Soul at its very best and the album is probably worth buying for this track alone. Personal favourites include "It'll Never Be Over For Me" by Timi Yuro, "I'll Do Anything" by Doris Troy and "I Walked Away" by Bobby Paris.
