It's nice to see other Labels getting involved in Northern Soul to offer some competition to Kent and Goldmine.  This particular CD focuses on releases from Tamla Motown which became popular on this underground circuit.  Its artists will be very familiar to most people,  Marvin Gaye, the Temptations, Glady's Knight, The Supremes, but unless you are a long standing Northern addict then the tracks will not.  It is a compilation made up from Motown's output which failed to make any impact commercially but which became staples at Wigan Casino.  The rarest cut is unquestionably Frank Wilson's 'Do I Love You' of which only two original 45's are known to exist.  The sleeve notes value this record at £5,000, but it has since changed hands for a staggering £15,000.  The other tracks are of a similar ilk, obscure cast-offs from the giant Detroit Record Company but which probably do not command the same price tag.

Although squarely aimed at the Northern Market, this CD will be equally appreciated by Motown Fans as well.  Personal favourites include 'Think it Over (Before you break my Heart' , by Brenda Holloway and 'I'm Still Loving You' by Kim Weston.
