It is often said that sequels are never as good as first releases, and this is probably true of this second compilation from Debutante.  Nonetheless it is still a worthwhile offering as the difference between this and the first volume is minimal.  Once again Chris King has trawled through the vaults to produce a compilation of Motown releases that failed to make it commercially but became cult sounds on the Northern Scene.  Surprisingly however this CD does contain one or two tracks which gained national recognition (Tell Me It Is Just A Rumour Baby, I Ain't Going Nowhere, Two can have a party). It was released to tie in with Motown's 40th. birthday and will certainly have as much appeal with Motown aficionados as it does with the Northern Soul crowd. My personal favourites include 'Suspicion' by the Originals, 'Sweet Thing' by the Spinners and 'Tune Up' by Junior Walker and the All-Stars.
